Organizations supplying products and services to the automotive industry, which are utilized in the manufacture of vehicles are required to become registered to the IATF 16949:2016 standard. As a component of this registration, OEM’s also require their suppliers to demonstrate effective implementation of the five Quality Core Tools. These Core Tools, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) are critical to ensure the provided products and services conform to customer and industry requirements.
Supply organizations are required to perform internal audits of these processes which validate the effective implementation of these tools within their organizations.
Auditing these processes can be challenging due to the volume of information to be reviewed and the many connections to other supporting processes.
